Last full day in Puerto. Two weeks goes so fast. I Last full day in Puerto. Two weeks goes so fast. I’m already thinking about us coming back for a month next time.

Also yesterday and today are hotter in Oaxaca than in Puerto 😵‍💫. We’ll be heading back in time for hot season 🔥. Remember how I’ve said that March-April are the hottest months of the year in Oaxaca? I wasn’t lying.

I still have some Puerto content to share, my fav off-the-beaten path beach, the best roadside oysters, pretty photo spots. Any things you’re curious about?
Best view in Puerto Escondido is always for me the Best view in Puerto Escondido is always for me the birds eye of Playa Carrizalillo from @espadinrestaurante and @villascarrizalillo 💙

Yesterday we got to see dear friends, have a baby play date, and eat a delish breakfast all with this view as our backdrop. Gracias @_bshook y @bleiberg 💖

I remember when arturo and I first started dating, I remember when arturo and I first started dating, I was so excited to travel with him to places I knew and loved, so I could see it all anew through his eyes. Now I feel the same way with Sabina, differently of course, but so excited to see what she thinks of every new thing.

Isn’t it amazing how we can experience the same place totally differently? My first visit to Puerto was in 2015 and filled long days exploring everything I could, and then long nights filled with mezcal. Almost exactly 8 years later, here I am, exploring slowly, revisiting places I love, visiting some new ones, and showing it all to my little girl. 💖

The last couple days we’ve been staying at the super comfy and beautiful @blater_hotel in Zicatela. This hotel is right in front of the beach, with lots of rooms with ocean views, and two large pools, one of which is the featured rooftop infinity pool.

The hotel is modern, clean, with comfy high quality beds, plenty of space for families, and also great for couples. The location is convenient to everything but also tucked in a quiet couple blocks away from bars. It’s been such an easy couple days, which is even more welcome with a baby in tow. Also she loves the pool!

One thing I love about Puerto are the charming corners and callejones all around. Like this Mexican contemporary style building, bugambilias 🌺 and palm fronds 🌿 that frame doorways, and colorful murals. 🌈

Should I do a reel of some of my fav photos spots? 🤔

SUNSET VIEWPOINT IN PUERTO ESCONDIDO 🌅 I’ve SUNSET VIEWPOINT IN PUERTO ESCONDIDO 🌅

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve visited Puerto. But even tho this is a tiny town, I can experience at least one new thing each time if I try.

Yesterday we stopped off at the Mirador Punta Colorada for sunset and wow. This viewpoint is on a rocky cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a long virgin beach (Playa Colorada) that is popular with surfers.

The viewpoint reminded me a tiny bit of Punta Cometa, but you can drive down a long windy sandy road to arrive and park. It would be great to bring a picnic and/or a cooler with treats. We even saw some people grilling.

Hands down my new fav place to watch the sunset in Puerto. My other top two
2) Playa Bacocho
3) La Punta (though it’s gotten quite crowded, but on quieter days and lower season, the view of Zicatela and the rocky outpost of La Punta is beautiful).

Thursday we introduced Saby to the ocean. It was Thursday we introduced Saby to the ocean. It was a success! She seemed very interested and liked being in the water.

The best beach in Puerto Eacondido for babies is definitely Playa Manzanillo/Puerto Angelito. The water is sooo calm, especially this time of year (dry season) so there are no waves and clear shallow waters to splash in. There is also lots of shade from palms and tide pools from the rocky sections for bigger kids to explore.
◇
Our morning went like this - arrive, get saby in the water a bit, nap time, feeding, coco time for mama and papa, more swimming and then back to the apartment by late morning. 🌊🌴
I planned this trip to the coast to be really rela I planned this trip to the coast to be really relaxed and give us lots of time to improvise. That turned out to be totally necessary. 😬
◇
As our first trip with Sabina, I thought getting out and about might be tricky so we’d want more days so we wouldn’t feel rushed. As it turned out, this trip has been super tricky but it has nothing to do with Sabina. 😂
◇
A couple days before we left, Arturo threw out his back so badly he couldn’t move. Then the day after we arrived I got super sick to my stomach, and ended up needing an IV in the morning. Saby has been nice and chill throughout.
◇
But I’m glad I planned for two weeks so now that we are slowly recovering, we’ll still have time to do some of the things we love and introduce Saby to our fav places.
◇
Here are a couple photos of us smiling yesterday as we finally felt well enough to head out to the beach. 🌊🌴 and a couple more when we were just hanging out in the apartment for a few days.

◇
Last summer when we were traveling in Zihua, I promised this guide was coming soon. Well ‘soon’ turned out to be relative. But here it is!
◇
This video shows a few highlights of some of my favorite places and experiences. The blog goes into detail about how to arrive, safety, what to do, the best beaches, where to eat, and where to stay. Link in bio!
◇
In my opinion, Zihuatanejo is highly underrated. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a more off-the-beaten-path beach destination. 🌴
